Energy efficiency grants
Lighting
We have grants available for applicants who are installing energy efficient hi-bay
lighting. The grant assistance we provide is up to 30% of the total project cost.
Companies also benefit from a free survey by lighting engineers who recommended
fittings, costs, estimated annual savings and payback periods. Typically the pay
pack for these schemes is less than two years. Our approved contractors are:
- Patina Lighting

- Montupet
-
Montupet (UK) took part in Energia’s 2005 Energy Efficicency Grant Scheme. They
installed energy efficient lighting which will make savings of up to 40% for the
manufacturer’s Dunmurry plant. Parkersell undertook the job of installing the new
fittings, which use half the energy compared to the older, inefficient fittings
and also provide a brighter, safer working environment.
Welcoming the new installation Tony Schmidt commented, "Energy efficiency was an
important factor in our decision making. There has been a dramatic improvement in
the working environment, with the workforce commenting on the improvement in lighting
quality all of which helps with quality control and visual inspection. We are particularly
pleased with the one year pay back period on our investment."

Montupet benefited from a free survey by experienced lighting engineers who recommended
fittings, costs, estimated annual savings and payback periods. With a pay back period
of one year Montupet will benefit from energy savings of £100,000 at the end of
this time.
- Curleys

IN 2006, Curleys Supermarket, a family run business, participated in Energia’s Energy
Efficiency Scheme. As part of a major refurbishment of its Dungannon site the company
replaced its existing lighting with new energy efficient fittings.
As a result of these new energy efficient measures Curleys have seen a reduced electrical
load by 158,000 kWh’s per years which equates to projected annual savings of circ
£12,600. The stores will not only reap the economical benefits but have also reduced
their impact on the environment by reducing the stores carbon footprint by 26 tonnes
per year.

"This was a natural time for us to look how our business practice impacted on the
environment and we are delighted to have joined with Energia and the Carbon Trust
in putting new practices into being. We are committed to the efficient use of resources
by reducing the amount of energy we use. Supermarket requires," said Stephen Kennedy,
Director.
