The Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta is back on the waterfront and is going to be a wonderful event with festive atmosphere throughout the weekend. At the heart of it is great racing and a lively social scene, with entertainment for all ashore. THe sea will have over 500 boats, cruisers, keelboats and dinghies, and for bystanders will see stunning views, great food and family events all along the water.

B)Dublin Castle Family Tour

Dublin Castle is holding a special family tour designed for children and their parents and guardians. The aim of this tour is to make history fun, exciting and engaging for children. Suitable for children aged 6 and over.

C)Laya Healthcare City Spectacular

This summer’s City Spectacular is back and aims to integrate the old and new. Over 200,000 festival-goers are expected in Dublin’s Merrion Square. Over the course of the 3 days over 100 street performers, feel good family health and wellness area, a live music stage and an even bigger Just Eat Street food market with amazing global cuisines from all around the world. For children there are football skills arena, an imaginative play universe and hands-on lego model building.

2.Wicklow
The Rathdrum International Cartoon Festival

Rathdrum International Cartoon Festival is back, with the original festival running from 1992 to 1997. The weekend will see Rathdrum host cartoonists, illustrators, animators, talks and workshops. Also over the weekend there will be live music bands, carnival funfair and family entertainment.

3. Kildare
Monastrevin Sreet-Fest

Monastrevin Street-Fest is a brand new festival and marks the first of a hopefully annual event on the streets on Monasterevin. Organised by the community it is set to be a wonderful day. On the day there will be open mic sessions,  live music, bouncing castles and dance acts.

4. Cork
The Queen of the Sea Festival

Now in its 10th year, Queen of the Sea Youghal has grown from a small family fun festival into the key midsummer family orientated festival of East Cork. Last year there were over 5,000 visitors, this year there is expected to be even more. This event caters for all ages with races, children’s fancy dress competitions, Youghal food festival and Queen on the Sea Contest to name a few.

5. Kerry
Kenmare’s Bastille Day Celebrations

In recognition of the French community in Kenmare, the town hosts a celebration of the French National day, where a little bit of France comes to the Kingdom! The Square will be transformed into a French quarter where there will be an abundance of music, fun and food all around. The Sheen Falls Lodge will also host a tasting menu of French inspired food and accompanying wines.

Festival of Music and Dancing

The Armada in Spanish Point has announced the details of its annual Festival of Music and Dancing during Willie Clancy Week. The 10-day programme which entails set dancing music sessions and country music dancing. It is the perfect festival to look back at traditional Irish music and dancing.  There is a jam packed schedule with something there for everyone.

8. Meath
Leinster Fleadh 2019

Athboy is hosting the 2019 Leinster Fleadh with over 30.000 visitors expected at the event. Expected are musicians from all over Leinster who will compete in regional final, ahead of the national competition which takes place in Boyne Valley in August. It is the perfect week to listen to some amazing trad musicians.

Earagail Arts Festival

Earagail Arts Festival is a bilingual arts festival which is an annual festival that takes place every July throughout Donegal. The two week festival includes music, theatre, visual arts, film, literature and a carnival. This is set to be a wonderful two weeks of Irish arts.

10. Monaghan
Inniskeen Road July Evening Festival

Patrick Kavanagh, one of Ireland’s greatest writers, the Inniskeen Road July Evening Festival is a celebration of his life and his wonderful work. You can walk or cycle through Kavanagh Country in 2020’s/30’s costume, with a prize going for the best costume. You can enjoy reciets and re-enactments at many sites that the poet visited. The weekend will come to a close with a BBQ and music and Inniskeen Social Club on Sunday evening. In short, this will be a feast of outdoor events including literature, music, song, drama and storytelling.

11. Mayo
Ballina Street Festival

The festival will take place from the  7th to the 14th July for a week-long celebration of the town, its heritage, culture and its magnificent River Moy. With a packed programme of events over the week, the festival aims to provide visitors with opportunities to enjoy new experiences and make memories along the banks of the River Moy.
There will be live music from rock to showband, traditional to contemporary and an opportunity for local businesses to showcase the best the town has to offer.

13. Tipperary
Roscrea Castle

Roscrea Castle is a stone castle that consists of a gate tower, curtain walls and two corner towers dating from the 1280s. The Castle and Damer House are part of the Roscrea Heritage Complex that also includes Black Mill, a restored mill displaying original St Cronan’s high cross and pillar stone and a Round Tower. Bring your swimming gear and head to Roscrea Leisure Centre afterwards for a swim with the kids. The leisure centre has great facilities, including  a café and a super slide for the kids.
