The Big Grill Festival at Herbert Park in Ballsbridge can proudly boast of being Europe’s largest barbecue and craft beer festival. Across a weekend in August, this festival will put on a culinary extravaganza for meat lovers, with barbecue experts from up and down the country bringing their own take of smokey, flame-grilled goodness to the table.
Amongst those confirmed for the 2018 edition of The Big Grill are Grainne O’Keefe from Clanbrassil House, Argentinian asado champion Rama Basilio, Andy Noonan from Fowl Play, Nick Solares from The Meat Show, Fingal Ferguson from Gubbeen Farm, as well as representatives from the likes of Box Burger, Kinara Kitchen, and Asador, to name but a few. As well as demonstrations and, of course, plenty to eat and drink, there will also be some fun events like a hot wing and burger eating challenges as well as an appearance from DJ BBQ.

Learn all about this ubiquitous fruit through a series of exhibitions, talks, cookery demos, and more. Find out how the various varieties are cultivated and about the humble tomato's plant-life relatives, including tobacco, potatoes, chillies, petunias and even deadly nightshade. As the theme for Heritage Week 2018 is Sharing Stories, self-confessed tomato addict Nicky Kyle, along with Botanic Gardens Director Matthew Jebb, will also be on hand for the fascinating series of talks known as Tomato Tales. If you love a good tomato or simply want to have a bit of craic while learning something new and unusual, make a date on your calendar for the Totally Terrific Tomato Festival.

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is the world’s largest annual celebration of Irish music, language, song and dance.
For many, it is the culmination of months of hard work and practice as they compete against fellow musicians, singers and dancers to achieve the recognition of being an All-Ireland champion. For others it is a unique and welcoming festival featuring the best of traditional arts and offering a wide range of activities to be enjoyed by all.
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2018 will take place in Drogheda, Co. Louth from Sunday 12th to Sunday 19th August 2018. It will feature workshops for young musicians, competitions, concerts, singing, céili’s and lots of fun throughout the week.

Located just outside the town of Tullamore, the farm was recently renovated. Part of the farm has been given over to the popular Pet Farm, while the rest is in full agricultural use. After meeting all the animals (including miniature horses, pot-bellied pigs, red deer, goats and emus) children and adults alike are in for a treat with the farm’s very own aviary – home to many species of colourful and rare birds. There’s also a play area consisting of a four tower multi play unit, swings and rockers and a coffee-shop for essential parental refreshments.

Waterford and Tramore Racecourse’s ongoing €1 million refurbishment will be showcased to the racing public at this action-packed, four-day August racing festival.Approximately 20,000 are expected for this popular event, which includes three consecutive evening meetings and culminates in a fun-filled, colourful, family fun afternoon on the Sunday. Generous prize money is on offer for all 28 races and the overall purse this year is €380,000 thanks to the support of long-established local businesses in backing the event. The Tramore August Racing Festival is about much more than just racing. Corporate groups from across the southeast will flock to the track on the Friday for the Waterford Chamber BBQ evening, taking place in the Festival Marquee, whilst fashionistas from all over Ireland will enjoy fashion, racing, cocktails and fun on the Saturday evening. This year’s Style Evening judge, Marietta Doran, has the unenviable task of choosing one overall winner and nine finalists at this year’s House of Waterford Crystal and Redlane.ie Style Evening, which boasts a prize fund of €3,500. The afternoon meeting on the final day is all about family fun. And don't forget to enjoy live music in the bars after racing every evening to keep the party going until late.
