Be part of a spectacular open air art exhibition!
Calling all artists to get involved in colouring the city streets during the summer months by joining Art On The Railings. Put simply, we’re looking for artists to hang their artwork from as many spaces as possible in the Viking Triangle and surrounding areas on four Saturdays over the summer months from 11am to 4pm! The plan is to bring all artists groups, collectives, individuals, students and established artists together to add to the vibrancy to the city by exhibiting as one giant collective on one Saturday each month from June to September. This is an ideal opportunity to network with your peers while selling some work. So artists! Be part of a stunning outdoor exhibition by brightening up the city as fresh-air alternative to a conventional art gallery. Art On The Railings is a joint collaboration between Waterford City Arts office and The Waterford Viking Triangle Trust. Artists of all levels are invited to take part and spaces will be reserved on a first come first served basis. The organisers will accommodate as many mediums as possible so if you can find a way to hang your work we want you to be part of the gathering. If you enjoy being surrounded by lovely art, please come out and support Art On The Railings in the summer by viewing, having a chat with and maybe even buying a piece of art from the artists!

The Warriors Run
https://www.discoverireland.ie/whats-on/the-warriors-run/518962
Saturday 25th August
The Warriors Run is a spectacular endurance run that takes place each summer around the Knocknarea mountain in Strandhill. Strandhill is set on the Atlantic coast at the foot of Knocknarea, on the summit of which lies a megalethic cairn where Maeve, the legendary Queen of Connacht, is supposedly buried. You'll take on multiple terrains in the Warriors Run, from the Cannon Gun at the beachfront in Strandhill to the top of Knocknarea, and back around to the beachfront again. While it only may be 15 kilometres in length, The Warriors Run is an extremely tough course, with both the sandy beaches and the 1,000 foot climb (and descent) adding to the challenge – not to mention the Broom Wagon which picks up stragglers who go beyond the two and a half hour time limit on the run! The Warriors Run attracts athletes from all over Ireland and abroad, and makes for a great day both for competitors and spectators alike. It also doubles as a wonderful way to see this amazing part of the country, so why not get yourself over to Strandhill for the last weekend in August and test yourself.
