Celebrating its 13th birthday this year, Laya Healthcare's City Spectacular is going to be even bigger, better and more spectacular than ever as it takes to Dublin’s Merrion Square this July. Super Milk Wild Air Run is an award-winning family fun run that features 10 of Europe’s biggest inflatable obstacles as part of a 5K course. 2018 brings new features such a water guns to the course. Each runner gets a powerful foam water gun, which they take home, to complete new fun tasks around the course, and of course, to give each other a soaking. At the Super Milk Wild Air Run the focus is on fun. From fitness fanatics who will find the run a genuine challenge, to the armchair athlete and everyone in between who will enjoy things at a more relaxed pace. The 10 massive obstacles combine agility, creativity and a vast amount of fun. While spraying your fellow competitors with the free water gun, you will be faced with tasks to earn your ‘winners wristband’.

The 16th National Sandcastle & Sculpture Competition

This extravaganza is one event in a weekend-long Beach Sports Festival bringing people together to enjoy the wonderful natural amenities of the beach. In addition, the Dick O’Reilly Perpetual Cup is presented to whomever the judges deem to have given the best effort on the day, across all of the categories ~ so give it all you've got! Slieve Bloom Eco Walking Festival

Walks are open to members and non-members. Why not join our club and enjoy walks every Sunday throughout the year. Registration takes place prior to the start of each walk. The fee is €5 per per walk (accompanied children are free) or annual membership of €20 (single) or €30 (family). Dogs are not allowed. Walkers participate at their own risk. Strong waterproof footwear and protective outdoor clothing is advisable. Grade A and B walks are for walkers who walk on a regular basis and have a reasonable level of fitness, are properly equipped and have sufficient food and drink to sustain themselves. A and B walks are in remote wilderness areas of the Slieve Blooms only accessible on foot and rarely frequented by hill walkers.

Olivia O'Leary is joined by poets Kerry Hardie and Pat Boran, as well as master uilleann piper David Power in Emo Court, one of architect James Gandon's neo-classical masterpieces. The house is surrounded by parklands, including beautiful gardens, a lake, woodland walks and many fine trees and shrubs.

Groove Festival is a family-friendly music festival hosted in the salubrious grounds of Kilruddery House and Gardens in Bray, County Wicklow each July. There are two separate stages that will play host to local acts alongside big international names. The 2018 edition of the festival will also feature the new Move At Groove area, as well as more food stalls, a comedy tent, and a special area for junior festival-goers to hang out and play or chill out. Kilruddery will provide the perfect location to leave the world behind and get into the groove this summer.

The historic twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina commemorate High King Brian Ború each year with a festival of fun events fit for all the family. Killaloe was the birthplace of Brian Boru and was his seat of power when he ruled Ireland, so it is no wonder that he is held up as the greatest of the Irish High Kings here. This will be the 26th edition of the festival and as usual, both Killaloe and Ballina will be serving up an array of events. Amongst the highlights will be historical guided tours, a stunning firework display over the Shannon, carnival games including archery, live music and street theatre, and even a genealogy workshop. There will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy at Féile Brian Ború. Event times TBC.

Family Fun Raceday

Limerick Racecourse in Greenmount Park will host one of its Family Fun Days at its first July race meeting. This means that as well as the racing action the kids are free in and there will entertainment for the entire family all through the day. There are seven National Hunt races lined up on the card, with the first under starters orders at 2pm. Meanwhile in the suites in the grandstand, the kid’s entertainment will feature fun and games like face-painting and a bouncy-castle and even some arts and crafts. Also open on the day is the Panoramic Restaurant in the grandstand which offers a spectacular view of all the action, with reserved tables for lunch available.

Melts are a newly formed psych-rock band from Dublin. The band is made up of ex-members of Ghost Estates, The Things, The Mighty Stef and The North Sea. Collides are a local rock n roll band from Waterford who have played the art beat stage once before. They are releasing their debut single, double A side, 'What's On Your Mind// We're So Cruel' on 23rd June from their debut EP, 'Fools Feel Fine', being released 29th of June with a launch that night. Proper Micro NV is the alias of Limerick singer/songwriter/producer Rory Hall. The 22-year-old has embraced electronic music of all kinds since 2012. At present Proper Micro NV specializes in down-tempo experimental electronic music, a move that has seen him being compared to James Blake and Mount Kimbie in recent months.

Féile Traidphicnic returns to An Spidéal this July for another weekend packed with excitement. The festival operates on a voluntary basis so while it is free, attendees are asked to donate what they can to help the festival operate. Across the weekend there will be a variety of events, ranging from live music, to arts and crafts, sessions in the pub, guided walks, sean-nós, and much, much more. Event times will be confirmed closer to the event. An Spidéal is at the heart of the Connemara Gaeltacht, so the Féile Traidphicnic is also the ideal place to try out your cúpla focal too. And given that it’s in the middle of the Irish summer, remember to pack your sun cream and your raincoat.

Ballina Fringe Festival

Ballina Fringe Festival is a brand new week-long arts festival running 6-15 July, alongside Ballina’s flagship Salmon Festival, now in its 54th year. The inaugural Ballina Fringe Festival has a focus on how North Mayo, its landscape and heritage have set foundations for ambitious and creative arts in many media. The flagship event of the festival, Crossing the Firebreak: An Exhibition by Donald Teskey is a rare Mayo exhibition of Teskey’s 40-year artistic career, much of which has been inspired by his residencies at Ballinglen Arts Foundations and along the Wild Atlantic Way. This exhibition, in association with the Oliver Sears Gallery runs 6-27 Julyat Ballina Civic Offices, and admission is FREE.
Rinn Duin Castle Loop
Walking here, you get a sense that past and present are closely interleaved. You will be captivated by the fascinating remains of an Anglo-Norman castle and walled town. Built in 1227 by King Henry III of England, it was populated by up to 1000 people in its heyday. It was destroyed, ruined and forgotten in less than 150 years, but in recent times one of the most important medieval town sites in Ireland has recently found a new lease of life.

The Cairde Sligo Arts Festival is set against the backdrop of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way so head west for an incredible range of events including Tumble Circus, The Fantastic World of Lulu, Lords of Strut, and more, live at the Circus Big Top. You’ll also have the opportunity to experience the premiere of Foyle Punt - a site specific music and storytelling event in harbour locations. Exhibitions focus on exploring events of the past from Northern Ireland’s troubles to the U.S civil rights movement through photographs, videos, audio visual tools and memorabilia. Another exhibition celebrates the showband era, another features work by Donegal’s leading artists and a “hands on” art room will be set up in the RCC to provide an opportunity for people of all ages to explore their creative side.

Before signing up to a gym membership you will end up cancelling in a month or two try something free, fun and friendly. The timed 5km walk is free to participate in and walkers of all abilities are welcome! So we encourage you to bring friends and friends along. We can promise you won't be the last one over the line with our friendly (and encouraging!) Tail Walkers. The event takes place as part of the existing parkrun event which welcomes runners, joggers and walkers each week.
