Try your hand at some of the maths puzzles and games that will be run by Maths Week Ireland as part of their Celebration of Mind. There will be puzzles, maze and maths tricks, magicians, mathematicians and puzzlers. From 12pm there will be Magical Plants presentations every 20 minutes in the Witches Garden (Erasmus Education Garden). Join the coven to find out more about using garlic to ward off vampires, plants for potions and spells, poisonous plants, and even some rarely seen invisible plants! The programme: Bach Cantata 78: Jesu, der du meine Seele; Bach Cantata 140: Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme; Marc'Antonio Ingegneri - O Bone Jesu; Purcell - 'O Soul of the World' from Ode To St Cecilia. LIT Ladies do it again! The avant-garde quartet return for their second instalment of artistic excellence on October 19th - October 22nd in A4 Sounds, Dublin 1. Opening night is Friday 19th Oct @ 7pm until pretty late with music by Helen O'Dea & live music by Jamie Dean. Saturday 20th Oct @ 12pm until 7pm. Sunday & Monday 12 - 7pm - Free YOGA @ 3pm on Sun+Mon. The LIT Ladies are a collective of art school graduates who strive to keep their creativity alive and buzzing. Their central goal is to inspire others to connect with their inner artist - the artist that dwells within us all. In times of geopolitical tension, the Ladies consider art to be the one universal truth. The one subject that truly connects us all. Painting, illustrations and photography are the mediums through which the Ladies express themselves. Dublin guest artists will also be contributing to the exhibition alongside the Ladies. From October 1st to Sunday 4th of November, the whole museum will be turned into a spooky fright fest with lots of fun for all the family. Arrive any time during the October season and have a spooky kiddie friendly fright at any time. Bring the little ones to the Temporary Tattoo Parlour in Wax World. Take a magical photo with Harry Potter, and get sorted into your own Hogwarts school with the sorting hat (on request) and the Nimbus 2000. Seek and Find game. There will also be some ghastly weapons hidden around the museum for everyone to find and win a small prize. (But don't touch the weapons because they're very dangerous!). There are lots of ghostly goodies to get everyone into the Halloween spirit so why not pick a Trick or Treat Wax Hand for a funky fright! Visitors will be encouraged to come in fancy dress as there will be prizes each day for the best costume.

Help us calculate feeding schedules, count species, and look at habitat dimensions! And after all that, you can assist our keepers in gathering some actual data from our snakes, lizards and tortoise in our encounter zone. We'll be gathering morphometric data from our animals at each encounter session and getting you to help! Normal admission prices apply. Firstly, each child will get to pick their own Pumpkin from our Pumpkin Patch then they get a round of Mini Golf AND a round of Foot Golf. They also get to hop, skip & bounce in our Inflatable Park with over 13 inflatables such as Obstacle Courses, Disco Domes, Super Slides, Combi Castles & good old standard Bouncy Castles. We will have a toddler zone set up for the younger kiddies and toddlers. We will also have a Pumpkin Carving area set up, so the kids can carve and decorate their own Pumpkins. Free parking onsite. Join us for our fun and non-competitive maths mission as we challenge you, our budding space travellers, to develop your astronaut skills with puzzles, co-ordination, memory, measuring and recording activities. Singer Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin from Carna in Connemara, who featured in last year’s TG4’s Glór Tire competition, is embarking on a new project. “An uplifting show that gives old songs a new lease of life,” is how she describes it and her aim is to tour it at home and abroad. Caitríona will be singing lively, catchy, songs, while the show will feature top-class musicians. They include Clifden’s Marie Walsh Clifden, an all-Ireland winner on numerous instruments, Padraic Keane from Oranmore who has travelled the worldwide on playing the pipes, flute and tin whistle, her good friend Pat Coyne on guitar. Caitríona’s brother Paul and wife Ailish will be heard through the night with their unique voices, her nephew Rónán Ó Conghaile will perform a few hearty dances and her brother Josie will be on stage as well. Caitríona plans to tour the show nationwide in Ireland and hopes to bring it abroad down the road.

Galway's newest Halloween event for all the family! We have created the most amazing Pumpkin Patch on our family farm in Ardahan in South Galway. Pumpkin Patches are a hugely popular tradition in the US where people make it a family day out to go and selection their pumpkin. Come pick your own pumpkin and enjoy the Halloween themed displays, games, and take lots of snaps of you and the kids. You have the option of booking a morning slot between 10am and 12.30pm, or afternoon slot between 1pm and 4.30pm.
The cover charge includes one pumpkin per family. You will get a pumpkin voucher on the day - additional pumpkins can be purchased separately if required. There will be refreshments available on site (tea, coffee etc) and plenty of spooky treats! Note this is a cash only site.

Head to the Haunted Estate House, transformed into a spooky old mansion for Halloween Fest. Gather ‘round the cauldron for Scary Story Time, with wicked tales from the White Witch of Westport. Brave souls can visit the dark dungeons, where the Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley locked up her prisoners. Carve a creepy pumpkin* and decorate some ghoulish goblin cakes at the Spooky Spoons Workshop. Get your Michael Jackson zombie moves on at the Thriller Dance Class. Head over to the Pirate Adventure Park for thrilling rides on the Cannonball Run, the Pirate Queen Swing Ship and the Pirates Plunge! (Good news – the Pirate Adventure Park is Open ALL midterm break long through to November 7th). Run amok through acres of parkland, blow off steam on the Bouncy Castle or get competitive on the Go Karts. Slow it all down with a relaxing lake drift in the Swan Pedalos or hop aboard the Westport House Express. The tiny ones will love the Pirate’s Den, an indoor soft play wonderland.

July 2015 saw the release of their debut E.P. Welcome to Pilgrim St, recorded live in a one-day session in Crookedwood Studios, Slane, featuring the wide range of musical styles the band possess in five original songs. The band is currently writing for the next release. Band members include members of Navan bands Trigger and the Hitmen and The Great Simones: Peadar Farrelly (Guitar, Vocals), Singer/Songwriter Eugene Donegan (Banjo, Vocals), Eoin McDonnell (Mandolin, Vocals), Francis McGinn (Bass), Mark Lynch (Dobro), Brendan Kelly (Accordion, Vocals) and Cathal McQuaid (Fiddle).
