Saturday 29th September
The All Ireland Poetry Slam is returning to Galway for the first time in six years! Three poets from each of the four provinces will go head to head for the title of All Ireland Champion, and the winner will go on to represent Ireland at the European Slam next year. To choose our champs the Connacht Slam will be held in the Blue Note Bar on Saturday the 29th of September. The final will be held in the Blue Note on November 3rd, and there are cash money prizes for the All Ireland winner and runners up on that night. Anyone can enter, please sign up in advance by emailing your details to hcathal@gmail.com with the title 'Connacht Heat Entry'. Please have three original poems prepared, although there is a chance that we could end up doing two poems per performer depending on the numbers. The rules are simple. There is a time limit of three minutes per poem. Points begin to be docked after the three-minute mark so it's best to come in around then. Points are awarded for the lyrical content of the poem and for performance too. Memorised poems do better than pieces read from a page, but don't let that discourage you if you don't have yours off the top of your head. Please share the event with anyone who you think might be interested and send on your own details to register to perform. The time is subject to change as it is a Saturday night, please check in here again before the event. See you there!
