Kilkenny Arts Festival 2016
Since its foundation in 1974, Kilkenny Arts Festival has gathered many of the world’s finest musicians, performers, writers and artists in Ireland’s medieval city each August. For ten days, the city’s historic churches, castle, courtyards, townhouses and gardens offer a magical setting for unique collaborations and intimate encounters between audiences and artists.

Former Valentine Black front man ‘Peco McLoughlin has recently released his debut single ‘Safe Haven’ on Independent label ‘Live Loud Music’. Having previously toured all over Ireland as well as the UK, America and representing Ireland at Indie Week Canada with Valentine Black, the band we’re forced to take an hiatus due to personal commitments and emigration. Always one for a silver lining, this became the perfect opportunity for Peco to release some of the tracks he’d been keeping on the back burner as a solo musician.

Killarney National Park

Lughnasa @ Grianan

There are few areas in Ireland that can boast such a wealth of internationally renowned musical acts. Just think of Enya, Clannad, Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh and Altan to name but a few. Then Brendan de Gaillí has danced his way around the world with Riverdance. But Gaoth Dobhair is not just about the music! It’s the place itself. There’s the sea and the coast, the islands the tradition and of course the Irish language. So come and enjoy a weekend of music, culture and craic in Gaoth Dobhair during Loinneog Lúnasa.
Malin Head, in County Donegal, is renowned for its rugged coastal landscape and attractive beaches. The area is steeped in history and folklore. Malin Head is an area for all tastes, including walking, fishing, swimming, photography, studying rock formations or rare flora and it is close to Inishowen’s splendid golf courses. Discover some of the largest sand dunes in Europe once you enter the Malin Head area via the coastal road, along the north of Trawbreaga Bay at Lagg.
Held in partnership with the Donkey Breed Society, the annual Donkey Day proves that donkeys are more than just something to admire in the fields as these wonderful animals take on the donkey obstacle course, egg and spoon races and musical chairs in the BDS Championship. After the judging takes place and the rosettes awarded, a parade of donkeys will take place around the Ballycultra Town area.
