Thomas Ashe Community Group commemorate 100th Anniversary in Lusk
To commemorate the 100th
year anniversary of the death of rebel fighter Thomas Ashe, the Thomas Ashe Community Group has organised a series of events throughout Lusk, on Saturday, September 30.
The centenary celebrations will take place from 11am, as a procession from begins from Corduff National School, where Thomas Ashe held the position of principal, to Round Towers GAA grounds. This will be led by Black Raven Pipe Band and the 5th
Battalion Group. The all-day events will range between sporting events, a screening of the brilliant “Fingal’s Finest”, historical talks, music events and the unveiling of a Thomas Ashe sculpture to honour the rebel’s legacy.
The day-long event is an interactive and exciting way to get involved with the history of Fingal and Thomas Ashe, as community groups come together to celebrate his life.

Please put the October 1st in your diaries as once again the Wear a Hug Fair will be held in the Glenroyal Hotel & Conference Centre, Maynooth, Kildare.
Babywearing Ireland is a nationwide not for profit organisation with an aim to promote safe babywearing and equip parents and care givers to make informed choices about carriers or slings.

Dragon Boat Paddleathon. A Celebration of Life and Remembrance.
A Celebration of Life and Rememberance Dragon Boat Paddleathon supported by Taxback Group.
The event will comprise of a timed dragon boat challenge, Flower Ceremony of Rememberance and Pink Afternoon Tea.
8km paddle challange open to teams of 12 to 16 paddlers plus helm and drummer. Individual paddlers can register on the Dolly Mixture team. Some local supporters of Nore Dragon Paddlers will compete in a 2km fun paddle challenge. All breast cancer survivor paddlers are asked to wear something pink for paddling and flower Ceremony.

The Villierstown 250 is a race for sailing dinghies that will be hosted by Villierstown Boating Club (VBC) located on the picturesque Blackwater River. The event takes place on Sunday 1st October 2017. Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival
The Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival, one of Ireland’s oldest traditional festival takes place in the small spa town every September. The festival now over 150 years old attracts up to 60000 people from all over the world, who come for the music, the dancing and the ‘craic’. Dancing takes place in venues all over town and in the newly reopened Spa Wells. Third generation matchmaker Willie Daly is on hand to bring hopeful singles together and boasts many marriages to date.
The Pink Moonlight Walking Challenge
It will take place at Midnight on September 30th walking to very early morning on October 1st (Breast Cancer awareness Month). Walkers will complete a 10 mile walk in Ennis Co Clare To support and raise vital funding as well as awareness for Breast Cancer Research. Entry is €35 and includes Technical T-shirt, Snack Bag to keep your energy up during the walk, a finishers medal and tea/sandwiches at Treacys West County afterwards. Entrants are also asked to take a sponsorship Card. This is a challenging walk and a decent level of fitness will be required. It’s open to children over 13 but they must be accompanied by an Adult.
Please Note this is a Walking Challenge and whilst you can Power walk the route, we will not be accepting runners for this event.
This is also a prelude to the ‘Walk the Pink Midnight Marathon” which will take place in June 2018 a longer walking challenge.

Ballinclare Horse Fair
Ballinclare Fair is an old horse fair. Its probably one of the oldest horse fairs in Ireland! It falls on the first Sunday of October. It strengthens from year to year. The fair is a good family day out. It attracts crowds of people. There are stalls and all types of animals from horses to chickens to sheep. Live music in all pubs, the famous Mutton Pies, various sheep shows etc. People come from all over Ireland and gather to enjoy the atmosphere of the day and buy and sell animals.
Dingle Food Festival
The Dingle Food Festival takes place on the first weekend in October every year in the beautiful fishing town of Dingle on the Dingle Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is organised by a group of local people on a non profit making basis.

Art SPACE Kids Activity Sessions
Art SPACE will be a set of weekly art sessions for children.
Ages 5 - 8yrs from 10.30am - 11.30am & 9 - 12yrs from 12pm - 1pm will engage with the exhibits in Limerick City Gallery of Art in a fun and inspiring way.
The sessions will be run by trained artists and facilitators.

Ladies Lough Gill Cycle Tour 2017
Innisfree Wheelers cycling club once again host the Womens Tour of Lough Gill for 2017. This event is funded through Sports Ireland Women in Sport programme and is a leisure event for all abilities. The tour is designed for women that are interested in getting back on the bicycle with very little training required. The tour will be conducted at a steady pace with no cyclist being dropped behind and full assistance being provided along the route. There will be a food stop at Dromahair and again at The Sligo Park Hotel at the finish of the event.

Marty’s RUN 2017
On Sunday October 1st 2017 Marty’s Run 5 Km run and walk will take place. This is the eighth year of the event which is in memory of Marty Gallagher, a much respected and gifted member of Foyle Valley Athletics Club who lost his life tragically in 2009.
This tour showcases the magic of Connemara and highlights innovative architecture which contributes to the unique character of the area. Architect & expert led tours.
The tour is approximately seven hours long, with a short lunch stopover between 1.15pm - 2pm.

We have teamed up with our friends at the amazing REDWOOD DOGGY PLAY PARK in Carrickfergus for a day of fun with our doggies. This is a day that is open to everyone. We are delighted to be holding our annual Ladies Lunch and Vintage Fair at the City Hotel on Sunday 1st October 2017. Bundoran Railway Heritage Festival
2017 marks 60 years since the closure of the Great Northern Railway and the last train to leave Bundoran station. The closure happened on September 30th 1957 and across the weekend of Friday 29th September to Sunday October 1st 2017 we will be commemorating this with a series of talks, exhibitions, screenings and more. If you’re a railway fan or travelled on the line before the closure, then a weekend of nostalgia lies ahead!

It’s sixty years since, on Monday 30 September 1957, the very last train pulled out of Enniskillen station.
Charles Friel, Enniskillen-born railway author, photographer and founder member of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, returns to The Ardhowen with an illustrated talk which recreates the railways which disappeared 60 years ago. Or, in the case of the Clogher Valley Railway, a mere 75 years ago!

Teams of 4 must make their way through 3 elemination stages that will test fitness, strength & endurance in order to be crowned Monaghan's Fittest Family.
