Ukulele Hooley

Ireland’s International Ukulele Hooley by the Sea, is Europe’s longest running ukulele festival. Taking places in Dún-Laoghaire, it is in its 10th year and set to be a wonderful event for all. With the Bus Busk and an Open Mike on Saturday, followed by a whole day of excellent ukulele acts performing on the big stage in the People's Park, and the Jungle Jam mass ukulele performance. Over the weekend there will be ukulele players from all over the world who you can meet and greet and talk all things ukulele.

Totally Terrific Tomato Festival

The Totally Terrific Tomato Festival is happening at the National Botanic Gardens  and are delighted to once again host this amazing festival. The display is running in the Teak House where there will be a series of tomato talks and lots of fun activities for children. This is the perfect day for the family where you can introduce them to a world of tomatoes.

National Heritage Week

Each year, in the last week of August, many of the local community organisations participate in Heritage Week by organising events throughout the country.  This week has grown into a highly anticipated week with over 2000 events expected to take place over the week. This is the perfect event for the whole family to attend.

2. Donegal

Bundoran Bay Swim

The Bundoran Bay Swim is back and is taking place on the 17th of August in the beautiful setting of Bundoran. The swim costs €20 to enter with all the proceeds for the swim, BBQ and fun day going to the Bundoran Community Centre. If you don’t want to participate in the swim itself head down to the family fun day and show your support to the swimmers.

Cappamore Agricultural Show 2019

One of Ireland’s leading one day show returns for another year with displays and competitions for all, including cookery, crafts and more traditional show selections like cattle and horse showing, and jumping classes, all taking place at  the showground, Ballyvoreen, Cappamore.

Féile na Gréine

Head down to the Irish Workhouse Centre in Ballinrobe this Sunday for the launch of a new booklet by historian Steve Dolan on the eighteenth century newspaper reports from Co. Mayo.
Admission to the event is free but you can buy the booklet for €5 each with full proceeds going to the Ballinrobe Courthouse Project.

Margaret, is a story that has been passed down from generation to generation through word of mouth about a rebellious soul, a "floozy", a close family friend, a personal hero, a criminal; who was sentenced to death by the Irish State in 1937. The reading will be followed by a feedback session & a Q&A.

This event is suitable for children under 12 and there is free parking with wheelchair access.
