3. What: Knockmullen House Point to Point Horse Races
When: Sunday the 10th of November from 12pm.
The very first horse races in Ireland were run from one landmark to another across the wild Irish countryside. These became known as ‘point-to-point’ races and are the historical heart of Irish horse racing! 18. What: Sunset over Grianán of Áileach
Where: Accessible all year round this ancient Donegal site is believed to have been the seat of the ruling kings of the area and possesses a powerful historical legacy. The massive stone ringfort, now a National Monument, is thought to have been built by the Uí Néills in the 7th century and from the top of Grianán of Áileach, you can take in a breathtaking, panoramic view of the beautiful Donegal countryside.

Science Week Ireland is an annual festival involving over 800 events across the country. This year’s theme across three different locations in Monaghan is ‘Science is Magic’.
