The Apple Watch will be available to buy in Ireland from Friday, September 25th - the basic Sport model with a 38mm screen will begin at €429.

A 42mm model will be available from €479 - the watches go on sale here five months after the wearable started shipping in the US.

The standard model - which has the same technical specifications as the Sport - begins at €679, it features a stainless steel frame, while the Sport version is aluminium.

The premium fashion-focused 'Watch' editions with a 18-carat gold case begins at €11,300 and can cost as much as €18,500.

So far the watch has been released in nine regions - the company has been tight-lipped about sale figures.

In the past Apple has released numbers within weeks of successful products going on sale.

CEO Tim Cook told investors in July that sales have "exceeded expectations" - online sale analysts have predicted that some 3.6m watches were sold during the six months after its release.
