It is the turn of Finán O'Donoghue to get his business, 'Campsited', kickstarted on the Right Hook.
Always a fan of the great outdoors, Finán was frustrated by what he describes as the excruciating experience of trying to book a camping holiday abroad with his family, and resolved to make it better. He set up Campsited to make booking camping holidays easy.
George and Gerard Tannam of Island Bridge Brand Development were on hand to give the business a kickstart as only they can.

The Business Idea
Finán describes his business as being “designed by campers, for campers”. A native of Killarney, Finán spent his childhood camping with family and friends which spurred him on to set up his new business to make booking camping holidays more accessible and hassle free. Campsited.com provides a great service for booking all types of camping accommodation including caravans, mobile homes and camper vans. At present, there are a host of campsites registered with the business and span the length and breadth of Ireland and the UK.

Gers Tips and Advice
  • This is a relationships business and Finán’s relationship with campsite owners is integral to the success of the business. The scope for growth is huge, but emphasis must be placed from the outset on building these relationships and business contacts both in Ireland and across the UK and Europe.
  • Finán has done a fantastic job in expanding the business throughout the UK, as well as Ireland. The website is very user friendly, but I would like to see him take more of an editorial role. It’s great to see that there will be featured campsites and “campsite of the week” type content coming up on the website in the near future – this will really drive engagement and help convert online sales.
  • Finán aims to build his technology so that it will be integrate-able with off-line or traditional travel booking channels. This is a nice touch as by 2020, nearly 50% of consumers will still be using traditional methods for booking holidays and this gives people options.
