Netflix and snug: The streaming site has invented socks that will pause shows if you fall asleep

Netflix has stepped out of the streaming game to disrupt the sock business by publishing its ownDIY guide to creating socks that can detect if you fall asleep, and pause what you are watching if you do.

"Sometimes a show is so good, you just can’t stop. And the next thing you know, zzzzz," Netflix said releasing the guide.

"Never again will you binge-watch yourself to sleep, only to wake up two seasons later wondering what happened."

The socks use rest and activity monitoring technology know as actigraphy - a built in accelerometer monitors your movement and can tell when you've nodded off and send a signal to Netflix to have your spot.

An LED light will flash before pausing the show, incase you are just extremely chilled out watching your new favourite show.

However making the socks looks like a pretty tough challenge. Netflix suggests that you knit your own pair and includes detailed designs to make themed socks based around Netflix shows.

The company suggest that you need access, and knowledge to use a soldering iron and a strong understanding of electronics...
