Nike becomes world's most valuable fashion brand


The 2016 list of the world's most valuable brands has just been published by Forbes, and Nike has been named as the most valuable fashion brand around.

The clothing company ranked 18th overall, with Silicon Valley companies dominating the upper reaches of the rankings – Apple, Google and Microsoft secured the top three, with only Coca-Cola, Toyota, McDonald's, Disney and GE breaking the tech monopoly in the top 10.

Louis Vuitton was just behind in 19th. The French fashion house was ranked 14th in 2015, several spots ahead of Nike.

Nike is now valued at $27.5 billion, determined from revenue before interest and taxes.

In terms of direct competitors, Nike far outshone Adidas, which dropped from 83rd to 90th this year.

Not only is Nike worth more, but the company is growing at a faster rate – Nike’s one-year value increase is at 5%, whereas the value of Adidas went up by 2%.

Louis Vuitton still leads the way when it comes to luxury, far outranking Gucci (44), Hermés (48), Cartier (58) and Chanel (80).
