WATCH: 60 years of the evolution of the computer game controller

When it comes to online nostalgia, there is no shortage of videos recapping the evolution of everything, from dance to Irish style. And now entering the canon is a wonderful look at the 58-year history of computer game controllers.

Starting all the way back with 1958’s Tennis for Two and coming bang up to date with 2016’s newest version of the Oculus Rift, you can chart the evolving nature and design of the humble controller. From the cleverly designed through to the chunky and unwieldy – with an inexplicable visit to Wu-tang territory – take a trip down a memory lane that scrolls from left to right and ponder what direction another six decades of gaming design will take.
