WATCH: John Lewis releases Christmas 2016 advert

John Lewis has released its much-anticipated Christmas advert, which now marks the start of the festive season for many.

This year, Buster The Boxer replaces 2015's Man On The Moon, as the UK department store chain aims to get away from the "sadvertising" style that made that clip such a tearjerker for many.

Instead, this post-Brexit offering is all about a canine that's extremely fond of a trampoline. He's joined by a cast of furry friends including foxes, a hedgehog, squirrel and badger. Soundtracking it all is a cover of Randy Crawford's 1980 hit 'One Day I'll Fly Away' from London electronica trio Vaults.

It's already racked up tens of thousands of views on YouTube since landing this morning. Check it out...

While the John Lewis ad is very much a Christmas staple, ITV are warning today that it expects to see a sharp slowdown in the advertising market over the period due to "political and economic uncertainty".

It announced that ad revenue was down 4% for the third quarter and should suffer an even steeper drop this quarter. The broadcaster forecasts that revenue will be down 7% on the same period last year as companies exercise caution.
