GoPro is planning to cash-in on the droves of users making incredible videos with its micro-cameras.

It has announced that it is launching a new online platform which will allow content creators to licence their GoPro videos to brands and media companies.

While YouTube's business model works around paying anyone who can generate views to upload content - GoPro's service is more professionally focused, and both buyers and producers must apply for access.

The company is promising to offer only top-quality videos, and it will allow creators to watermark their content.

Video licences start at $1,000 for six months - the company has not revealed what percentage it will keep, and how much will go to video owners.

This is the company's first major non-hardware venture, but it will face stiff competition from established companies offering GoPro-style footage.
