Cummins Sports shapes up by 10%

September 20

Cork's number one sports retailer Cummins Sports is reducing its electricity costs by 10% thanks to an energy audit from Energia.

Cummins Sports recently renewed their existing energy supply deal with Energia. The 12 month rolling contract sees Energia supply electricity to Cummins Sports’ seven Cork Stores in Ballingcollig, Blackpool, Douglas, Midleton, Princes St (two stores) and North Main St.

As part of their energy services, Energia conducted an energy audit of Cummins Sports’ store at Cork’s North Main St. The audit identified the potential to reduce the stores’ energy consumption in a number of areas including usage of lighting and heating. The measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs were designed to be implemented across their store network. Crucially, as a result, Cummins Sports are set to save 10% on their energy costs.

Commenting on the deal Aine Cummins, Cummins Sports said: “After several years with Energia, we are delighted to renew our contract. Our deal provides us with competitive priced energy and high quality customer service. The recent energy audit by Energia provided us with straightforward ways to reduce our energy consumption and costs while maintaining our existing high standards. Conveniently, any cost to us was paid back within four months as a result of the energy cost savings.”

Aidan Brennan, Key Account Manager, Energia commented: “Energia supplies over one-third of Irish shops with electricity, so choosing to stay with us is a natural decision for huge numbers of Irish retailers like Cummins Sports.”

“Our energy efficiency expertise is able to provide all Irish businesses with easy-to-use advice on how to reduce their energy consumption, saving them money. Added to our very attractive price package, we offer excellent customer service and with Energia On-line customers can also analyze and interrogate their energy consumption, discover usage patterns and produce reports. This information in turn can be used with another product, the Energia Bureau, to manage energy efficiency projects in the business.”

Energia is Ireland’s leading independent energy supply company with a 28% market share of the business electricity and gas market on an all–island basis with over 65,000 customers.

Energia has offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast and Omagh.
