Energia supply deal adds extra green to Stackstown Golf Club

19th August 2016 – Competitive energy provider Energia has added extra green to Stackstown Golf Club thanks to a new energy supply deal.

Famous as Padraig Harrington’s training ground and located in the Dublin mountains, Stackstown is one of Ireland’s most well respected and attractive golf clubs. The club has just signed a new deal with Energia for the supply of 100% renewable energy.

Energia Renewables is among Ireland's leading providers of sustainable green energy, providing 25% of Ireland’s wind power to homes and businesses across Ireland. Energia currently supplies over 795MWs of renewable energy and this will rise to over 1,000MWs in the coming years. Energia has invested over €300m in wind farms since 2008 and currently has over 300MWs of projects in development.

Leo Kane, Stackstown Golf Club commented, “As the club benefits from the beautiful Dublin mountains, we’re very conscious of environmental sustainability. That’s why we decided to choose Energia as the supplier of our new 100% green energy.”

Jason Cassidy, Energia commented, “We are delighted to sign this green energy deal with Stackstown. As one of Ireland’s leading providers of sustainable energy, we are increasingly in demand from businesses and homes around Ireland.”

“We also support businesses through innovative energy programmes like Energia’s ‘Cash for Kilowatts’ scheme that provides grant funding to companies for energy efficiency projects. It means that any company carrying out an energy efficiency project can qualify for grant funding based on the amount of energy they save. The grant can fund up to 30% of the project cost. This scheme is open to all businesses, whether or not they are customers of Energia.

As well as benefitting from the generous grants, businesses will also make very significant ongoing savings through the energy efficiency projects. For example:

  • Lighting: LED and high efficiency lighting can typically reduce your lighting costs by up to 75%
  • Heating: a new boiler or heating controls can save over 25% of your annual fuel costs
  • Refrigeration: new systems can reduce your costs by up to 30%

Energia has a 26% market share of the Irish business electricity and gas market supplying the energy needs of over 60,000 business customers. In addition to renewable assets, the company also operates a 750MW gas fired power station in north Dublin.

Energia has offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Belfast and Omagh.
