Energia Doubles Fundraising for MS Ireland

Energia, Ireland's leading independent energy supplier has donated £20,000 to MS Ireland and the MS Society.  Having had a target to raise £10,000 it has been an outstanding effort to raise £20,000.

Staff in Energia's offices across Ireland were involved in raising this considerable sum which will go towards the charity's work with people with MS and their families, carers and others who are interested in or concerned about the disease.

MS Ireland and the MS Society wre nominated by Energia as their Charity of the Year 2012/2013 and the Charity Committee's Chairperson, Irene McKenna says it is a very worthwhile cause:
"Choosing our Charity of the Year is always a rigorous process as each charity is such a good cause.  We are delighted to be able to donate this money straight to MS Ireland and the MS Society to help them continue with the amazing work they do.

Fundraising has been a lot of fun with staff taking part in coffee mornings, wearing Christmas jumpers, bring and buy sales, ballots and draws including a signed Rory McIlroy flag from the US Open, and of course the adrenalin events such as skydives, zip lining and fire walking!"

Speaking at the presentation of the funds, Aisling Donoghue of MS Ireland said:

"We were delighted to be nominated as Energia's charity partner and really appreciate the fantastic fundraising efforts of all the staff throughout the year to support MS Ireland's services to people with MS.  Thank you."

Tom Mallone from the MS Society in NI stated:
"We cannot thank Energia and their staff enough for this generous contribution to the work of the MS Society in Northern Ireland - £10,000 is a fantastic donation and the money will be used to help fund vital services and support for people affected by MS throughout Northern Ireland."

Energia has now nominated Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind as their 2013/2014 Charity of the Year.
