10 Fun Things to do at Home this April

In these unusual times, we’re all spending a lot more time at home. We know that this can be stressful for families, so we’ve put together 10 great ways to help you and yours relax and have fun around the house.

1. Teach your bundles of energy

Your kids are probably missing school by now. But fear not! We’ve created a green energy quiz that will redirect your little ones’ energy into learning all about sustainability. Download and play here!

2. Feel good with yoga

Light some candles. Put on your favourite relaxing music. And get ready to stretch and breathe. Practicing yoga is a great way to destress and reconnect with the present moment. Plus there are so many great apps out there to guide you through every pose.

3. Curl up and watch a movie

Catch up on the latest releases or lose yourself in your old favourites. And if you’re struggling to make a decision, put it to a family vote! Don’t forget to make plenty of popcorn and snuggle up in your warmest blanket.  â€‹

4. Try a new recipe

Now is the time to try out that recipe you’ve been looking at. Get the whole family involved in a baking day and enjoy your delicious creations together. â€‹

5. Get creative with arts and crafts

Start searching for those paint bottles, goggly eyes, stray lollypop sticks, and pieces of felt. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon with your kids and watch their imaginations run wild. Plus you’ll be turning waste into works of art!

6. Catch up on a podcast... or two

There’s nothing like listening to a podcast while pottering around the house. Whether you’re interested in true crime, politics or nature, there’s a podcast out there for you. Interested in sport? Check out our Energia AIL podcast for club rugby supporters: The Club Scene. â€‹

7. Rediscover your favourite hobby

Now is the perfect opportunity to make time for the things you love most. Pull out your sketchpad, gardening gloves, camera or musical instrument and lose yourself in your favourite hobby.

8. Start that spring clean

As the saying goes, a clean house is a happy home. Now’s the time to clear out the clutter and start that spring clean. You’ll be surprised how great an organised house can feel!

9. Take a long hot bath

Enjoy some “me time” with a long afternoon soak. Go all out and add your favourite essential oils or bubble bath. Lavender and rose are great for your skin and will leave you smelling and feeling amazing. â€‹

10. Continue your work routine – at home

As we all get used to social distancing, many of us have started working from home for the first time. Your home may be your office but just remember to switch off from work at the end of the day, put your laptop away, and enjoy your free time.
