Description: Dublin City Council, Northwest Area are delighted to offer a FREE Sustainable Gardening Course for people living in the Finglas and Ballymun area.

This course will be run over two dates and you need to be able to attend both dates to sign up. The course covers everything you need to know to improve your area for biodiversity and grow chemical free. This course is particularly interesting for Tidy Towns groups, Allotment Holders, Green Schools Coordinators, and those wishing to really reduce their impact on the planet.

The Rose Festival

DescriptionThe festival is held in the beautiful surroundings of St Anne’s Park with its Rose Garden and scenic walks.

The annual Rose Festival 2022 returns to St Anne’s Park in Raheny on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of July.

This year’s festival is jam-packed with activities for the whole family with a whole host of things to see and do including live music and dancing.

As every year, there will be plenty of stalls with plants and flowers, arts & crafts and food vendors.

AIG 4 Nations Para Badminton International

When: 16th & 17th Jul 2022


Admission: Attendance is free from Wednesday - Saturday. All proceedings from Sunday’s tickets will go Ukrainian Badminton Federation to help fund their players to compete in Para Badminton International events.

Description: The AIG 4 Nations Para Badminton International is an exciting new Para Badminton International event that is welcomes the world's best Para Badminton players to Ireland. The event will rotate each year with England hosting in 2023 and Scotland hosting in 2024.

The first edition of the AIG 4 Nations Para Badminton International will be held in Dublin and will replace the existing Irish Para Badminton Open. The event has been sanctioned as part of the BWF Grade 2 Level 1 Circuit, which is the highest level of event in the BWF world circuit.

The finals day of the AIG 4 Nations Para Badminton International will be held at the National Indoor Arena on the 17th July 2022 with finals day coverage kicking off on TG4 at 12:00. There will be three matches on Court 1 that will be broadcast live on TG4.The finals day is more than Court 1, in person you can watch three courts live followed by the awards ceremony presentation. First games start at 11am.

Annual Ceremony & Show at King John's Castle

When: Sun, 17 July 2022


Admission: Free

Description: Come and watch the parade and annual flag-raising ceremony supported by the Defence Forces commemorating the Flight of the Wild Geese and celebrating the friendship between Ireland and France. The Irish, French and European anthems will be performed for the occasion by the Boherbuoy Brass & Reed Band.

The parade will include reenactors from En Garde, the Society for Franco-Irish History, and members of the following veteran associations whom we wish to thank most sincerely for their participation: The French Foreign Legion Veterans Association of Ireland, the Limerick Branch of the Irish Naval Association, the I.U.N.V.A. (Post 6), the Patrick Sarsfield Branch of the O.N.E. and the Limerick Branch of the Royal British Legion of Ireland.

Burtonport Summer Festival

Description: An annual family orientated festival which takes place every year in the 3rd week of July, now entering its 46th year.

The Burtonport Summer Festival is a week-long family festival with a packed brochure made up of children's events, sports days, beach days, teddy bears picnic and much more.

Also included are heritage events as well as a 5km road race and some cycling events. Enjoy free outdoor music nightly on the festival platform as well as novelty events. They pride themselves on appealing to both locals and visitors alike with many visitors returning year after year for the festival.

Ballina Salmon Festival

Description: Ballina Salmon Festival the oldest community festival along the Wild Atlantic Way, turns 58 this year. It promises a programme packed full of fun for families, outdoor enthusiasts and the culturally curious.

This year’s festival takes place between 10th – 16th July 2022, as the town and country emerges from the global pandemic, particular attention has been given to the family programme of events.

The festival is returning to its roots with some great river-themed events, as well as hosting firm favourites teddy bears picnic, opening the festival on the 10 July, with the National Heritage Day is on 13 July and Mardi Gras and fireworks extravaganza closes the weeks festival in great style.

Galway International Arts Festival

Description: Experience 14 days of extraordinary this July 11-24th at the multidisciplinary Galway International Arts Festival, including live music, theatre, opera, visual arts, street spectacle, dance, discussion and comedy.

Founded in 1978, Galway International Arts Festival (GIAF) is a major cultural organisation, which produces one of Europe’s leading international arts festivals; develops and produces new work that tours nationally and internationally; and presents a major discussion platform, First Thought Talks.

The Festival will this year return to its traditional place in the calendar, in July (11-24), with a full multidisciplinary line-up, including theatre, opera, visual arts, live music, street and talks. The live music line-up, which includes performances from Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Kaiser Chiefs among others, has already been announced, while the full programme will be announced in mid-May.

Earagail Arts Festival is a bilingual (Irish and English language), multidisciplinary summer festival which traditionally takes place each July throughout County Donegal along the Wild Atlantic Way on the north-west coast of Ireland.

The festival brings inspiring performers to this captivating European frontier, showcases artists native to the area and provides opportunities for cultural exchange, in venues from purpose built theatres and galleries, to village halls, forests and beaches, creating a unique cultural experience in the most unlikely of magical places, with a diverse programme of events reaching out across the county.

Description: It is going to be a Summer of magical outdoor fun and Causey Ice-cream Adventure is a fantastic day out for all the family!

This year their theme for the Willow Trail will be Irish Foclóir stories. Listen to the myths and legends of Irish heroes’ including The Children of Lir, Fionn and the Salmon, Cú Chulainn & Oisín and Tír na nÓg to name but a few.

Their giant domino challenge has lots of extra dominos to captivate your young (and old) civil engineers. The pond is home to five giant swans (these have an extra charge) and you can pedal around the islands on them.

The Ulster Fleadh 2022

Description: The Ulster Fleadh is a special event that all the family can enjoy with a mixture of free open air street events, concerts, Irish Language events, ceili's and competitions which display the best of Irish Culture. Fleadhanna have grown into huge community festivals too. Across these weekends thousands of young and not so young musicians will also be taking part in competitions and meeting up with friends to play music, share tunes and tell stories on the streets of the towns and villages alongside well established musicians.

This year the Ulster Fleadh, which is the highlight of the year for Irish music enthusiasts, will take place in the vibrant village Dromore, Co. Tyrone from the 17th – 24th of July. It is expected to draw thousands from across the island to experience the biggest cultural celebration in Ulster, returning after a 3-year hiatus post pandemic.

Description: Clean Coasts and Fáilte Ireland are teaming up in Sligo for a Wild Atlantic Way clean-up event on July 16th.

Fáilte Ireland, the National Tourism Development’s role is to support the long-term sustainable growth in the economic, social, cultural, and environmental contribution of tourism to Ireland. By joining forces with Clean Coasts, who engage communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life, for their summertime Enjoy and Protect campaign, they hope to raise awareness to how our wildlife and marine spaces are impacted by litter dropped by tourists in the summertime.

Clean Coasts and Fáilte Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Community Clean-up Sligo event will include a beach clean-up of Enniscrone Beach along with tea, coffee and treats provided by T2 Coffee Van so be sure to remember to bring along your reusable cups!
