Join Involve Ballina at the Community Garden, Parkside, (St. Patricks Estate), Ballina where artwork created by young people will be unveiled.
Involve Ballina provides youth work services to young people aged 10 – 24 years who mainly come from the Traveller community. The art work is the result of young people working with artist Alice Dixon, they collaboratively create a large art piece that will be displayed in the community garden on culture night. This piece has been inspired by the young peoples response to the culture night theme of “Inclusion, Human Rights and Diversity” and has been created in artist led workshops prior to culture night.

Keeping the Wren Boys tradition alive, four rambling houses will parade down Church St Listowel before taking to the Town Square to display their talents and compete for the All-Ireland Wren Boy title.
The audience will be treated to a lively display of the traditional arts with musicians and dancers from the Cork/Limerick border Kileedy Wrenboys as well as Kerry based groups from Lixnaw, Ballydonoghue and Athea.
To celebrate Culture Night and add to the festivities, storytellers, poets, songwriters and musicians will feature between the competing groups.

Families are invited to drop in and build their very own car for our Culture Night indoor drive-in movie experience. Art facilitators will help kids to design and build a car using recycled cardboard boxes and art materials. Once your car is built it’s time to park up and enjoy an animated movie. Children must be accompanied by an adult and bring their own cardboard box. This event will take place from 6pm until 8pm at the Regional Cultural Centre.

Over two hours on Culture Night, we will tour the varied public artworks in and around the county of Kildare. We will check out some new commissions and you will find out more about those artworks that you see everyday and find those that may be hidden from view. You will hear the stories behind the artworks and their creators. Tour participants are encouraged to get involved and to share their stories and sentiments about the artworks in words, songs, poems etc.

On Culture Night Enniscorthy Library will be inviting families and young people to experience the wonderful art exhibition, Viewpoints. The library staff will be on hand to guide visitors through the exhibit creating an interactive experience for Culture Night audiences.
Viewpoints explores the potent realm of children’s literature as a place for young people to develop and understand their rights. This exhibition has been developed in partnership with the Glucksman Gallery in UCC. Seven Irish picture book authors/artists Fatti Burke, Peter Donnelly, Chris Judge, Roisin Hahessy, Chris Haughton, Mary Murphy and Niamh Sharkey created new illustrations to respond to different themes within the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, the touring Viewpoints will be on view in Enniscorthy library from the 19th to the 30th of September.

The Kilkenny Union Workhouse is now beautifully restored as MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre. This award-winning FREE AV tour, begins at the customer service desk and will guide people around the buildings of the former Workhouse. Hear the human stories of the inmates that lived and died within the wall. Learn about the unexpected discovery of over 970 human remains described as the most significant discovery in the world relating to the Irish Famine.
Tour includes complimentary Starbucks coffee.
The tour lasts approx. 50 minutes and is at 9 marked points throughout the shopping centre.

A visit to Kilmainham Gaol will take you on a journey through Irish history. You will discover the stories of people held here as ordinary criminals alongside those who fought for Irish independence. From the 1798 rebellion, to the 1916 Easter Rising, the Anglo-Irish War (1919-21), to the devastation of the Irish Civil War (1922-23) all these important events have a chapter in the story of Kilmainham Gaol.
Highlights of the tour include access to the ground floor corridors, Victorian East Wing, the prison yards, and the Stonebreaker’s Yard. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour time. The guided tour takes 30-35 minutes.

Skerries Mills are offering a guided tour of our unique location as part of culture night. On the tour you will experience the history of milling and Skerries Mills. Try your hand at stone grinding flour, then see the water wheel in action turning the sheives, shakers, blowers and all inside the mill. Take a walk across the crop field and go up inside the four sail windmill then onto the five sail Great Windmill of Skerries which dominates the local skyline. Tickets are limited to 20 places.
