Sing Along Social at Culture Night 2017
**Please note that this event is unticketed. Admission will be on a first come, first served basis, so it is advised to arrive early.**
The Sing Along Social is a zero-commitment choir hosted by Aoife McElwain, designed for people who can’t really sing. It’s for the singers who were told to mime in other choirs or kicked out of karaoke bars for being off key. You don't need to practice. You don't even need to know the words. It's about caterwauling along to some gas songs in the company of friends and strangers. Good singers welcome, too.

Stolen Child - the Magic of Glencar 7pm- 8.30pm, Glencar Waterfall
Faery workshops 11am-4pm, The Glens Centre, Manorhamilton
Leitrim’s most celebrated waterfall is the place to be this Culture Night, as the faeries flit down from the hills above Glen-Car to try to lure you away to their haunts beyond the wandering waters, the rushes and the ferns evoked by W B Yeats in his wonderful poem, “The Stolen Child.”  Allow the faeries to take you through the unseen veil of magic into another realm where all things are possible and there is no weeping.
The Rabbit's Riot Theatre Company - fresh from an award winning show at the Galway Fringe - in collaboration with the Glens Centre will present you with new and thrilling production based on “The Stolen Child”.  Expect the unexpected.  Anticipate poetry, haunting music, mysterious voices, dazzling lighting effects, and a troupe of real Leitrim faeries who really want to steal you away.
Don’t miss this unforgettable evening at Glencar Waterfall, voted one of Ireland’s most beautiful attractions, time after time.  There will be a bus from the Glens Centre at 6.45pm or meet us at Glencar Tea Shed at 7 for refreshments and magic cakes before the adventure.  We are delighted that the Tea Shed is collaborating with us for Culture Night.  The evening will last around 90 minutes and the bus will return to Manorhamilton.

47th Irish Hot Air Ballooning Championships
From the 24th to the 29th September 2017 the skies above Loughrea, Co. Galway will be filled with the beautiful sight of dozens of Hot Air Balloons - weather permitting.
As the weather tends to be very variable - from wonderfully flyable to blowing a gale - and ballooning is completely weather dependant, it is unfortunately impossible to set a completely accurate flight schedule for the Championships. However, we have provisional launch slots at approximately 8am and 5:30pm each day. A decision as to whether the balloons will launch and where they may launch from will only be taken 2 hours before each launch slot and not before.
In order to get the latest information on whether the balloons are flying, and if so, the launch site, please see the official Championship Web, Facebook or Twitter pages which will be updated immediately following flight briefings - this event will NOT be updated with launch information, this is general event information only.
As always we thank each and every one of you for your support and are praying to the weather gods for fine ballooning conditions.
