Energia are the right call

Carphone Warehouse, Ireland’s leading retailer of connected products and services, is switching to competitive electricity provider Energia.

The terms of the new deal will see Energia supply the Carphone Warehouse’s 82 stores around Ireland with over 1.5 GWhrs (GigaWatt hours) over the next 18 months. The value of the deal will be in the region of €360,000.

Carphone Warehouse is now the leading retailer of mobile and other wireless technology and services in Ireland with a market share of almost 30% in the mobile phone market. Carphone have recently invested significantly in their new connected world format stores in Carrick On Shannon, Crescent Shopping Centre Limerick, and Henry Street, with further stores planned. They also opened new stores in Castlebar and Portlaoise before Christmas with the creation of 15 jobs.

Energia has a 28% market share of the Irish business electricity and gas market supplying the energy needs of over 65,000 business customers. In addition to renewable assets, the company also operates a 750MW gas fired power station in north Dublin.
