Manufacturing is Alive and Well- SFA Awards

Manufacturing plays a crucial role in any economy and is a driver of innovation and technological advancement. It provides employment across a broad range of skills levels and generates additional indirect jobs throughout the country. With this in mind it is good to see that manufacturing in the Irish SME sector is alive and well and judging by the finalist entered in the SME manufacturing category of this year’s Small Firms Association Awards, it will continue to go from strength to strength.

The six finalists in the manufacturing category, sponsored by Energia, show the diversity of the sector and  they are drawn from a wide variety of manufacturing backgrounds across  the country. This year’s finalists in the manufacturing category include:

  • Nugent Manufacturing a Naas-based steel fabrication company;
  • A microbrewery from Mitchelstown called Eight Degrees Brewing;
  • Celtic Pure, bottlers of the finest natural spring water from Co Monaghan;
  • Gort-based makers of creative work surface solutions, Topform and;
  • Laois Sawmills from Portlaoise.

The finalists were announced at the SFA Awards Showcase in Dublin Castle last week. The awards will be presented by Awards Patron, An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, TD, to all category winners and the Overall Winner at a Gala Event in March 2015.

Energia is proud to sponsor this award, which shows how strong and varied the SME sector is.
