Energia staff put heads together to raise funds for brain injury

Year-long fundraising activities include crisp sandwich day, a 24hr race and   Movember

9th January 2017 – The staff of Energia have raised over €25,000 for Headway, Ireland’s leading charity for brain injury.

The Energia staff undertook a wide range of fundraising activities for Headway after they chose the charity as its “Charity of the Year 2016.”
The fun fundraising efforts saw the staff run a range of activities including a Halloween treats sale, Movember, Cyber Monday,  a fantasy football league, competing in a triathalon, a hamper raffle, a quiz night, a crisp sandwich day, an airport run and a number of staff competed in Energia’s own 24hr race.
The initiative was part of an all-island charity initiative whereby Energia staff in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland raised almost €13,000 from these activities and the company matched this amount to bring the total donation to over €25,000. Energia staff have raised over €120,000 over the past four years for their charities of choice, including MS Ireland, Alone and Irish Guide Dogs
The funds will go to fund Headway and their work supporting people with brain injuries. 100% of donations they receive go directly to providing services to older people in need.

Neasa Creighton, a member of Energia’s Charity Committee, commented, “Brain injuries affect a significant number of people in our community each year. Given this link, we decided that Headway was a very worthy recipient of our support this year. We put our heads together, came up with some great ideas and had great fun raising the money. We are also delighted to say that Energia doubled the value of the funds raised by staff.”

Speaking at the presentation to Headway Ireland, Sarah Benson, Head of Communications & Development said: “Headway is honoured and incredibly grateful that Energia resolved to help us with this fantastic donation. As a result of Energia’s dedication to Headway services in Northern Ireland and the Republic, both our organisations can now invest in additional services that help survivors, their families and carers cope with the challenges of brain injury on the road to recovery. This investment will bring additional benefits to our clients outside of what we can currently offer in our day services. We can’t thank them enough. Energia are our first corporate partner, a partnership that will have lasting influence in the lives of our clients. We want to say a massive thanks to all at Energia for their time and generosity.”
