How would you describe your project?
A group of adult students are studying the QQI L2 Life Science: Horticulture module. Students undertake practical horticulture skills to complete gardening tasks and learn basic principles about plants and trees.
Who does your project benefit?
Students, tutors and even the staff in CDETB Ballymun Adult Education Centre all benefit from our garden.
What difference has the funding made to your project?
This funding allowed us to purchase plants and materials and has allowed for a broader learning experience for the students studying this module. We were able to take field trips to Santry Community Garden and the new Ballymun Boiler house Eco Project during the term. The project has also enabled social interaction amongst other Centre users who follow the progress on a weekly basis, who are not studying horticulture.
What are your projects plans for the future?
Continue to develop and maintain planting at the Centre for future students or those who want to study more horticultural modules.
