Wine and Cheese Festival
When: 8th-11th August
The Wine and Cheese Festival is finally here after many months of anticipation! Taking place in the Iveagh Gardens, it is set to be a wonderful event where you can taste the best of the best of wine and cheese from both local and international vendors. If you think this event will be too fancy for you, don’t be as it is aiming to showcase the food and drink as their HEROES.

The Playstival is back and is taking place in the gorgeous grounds of Airside Estate. This two-day festival is a celebration of fun, excitement and discovery for both children and adults. The festival’s line-up allows parents the opportunity to play with their children or let them interact with other children who will be at the festival. With live music, amazing food vendors and an action packed programme for children, this festival is set to be a wonderful event for the whole family to enjoy.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin Half Marathon
When: 10th-11th August
Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin is back with a half marathon, 10K, 5k and Family Fun routes and is set to be a wonderful weekend for all. Taking part is not all Rock ‘n’ Roll Dublin has to offer, as the runners will take their journey past some of Dublin’s most famous landmarks like Stephen’s Green, Christchurch Cathedral and the famous Guinness Brewery. Afterwards enjoy our headliner act at the finish festival concert.

Open Mic Night
When: 11th August
Taking place in the famous Roisin Dubh, the Open Mic night is set to be a wonderful event for all. All musicians are welcome to come in and hone their talents. With great atmosphere expected on the night it is the perfect opportunity for people to come in and showcase their comedic talents and the audience to get behind them and show their support.

Schull Regatta
When: 10th-11th August
Schull Regatta had a major relaunch in 2014 and since then has become one of the main events in West Cork in recent years. Located in one of the most beautiful parts of West Cork, with the quaintest of villages, it is a firm favourite with locals and visitors from near and far. The action packed weekend includes a huge range of activities from swimming races, crab fishing competitions, raft races and tug of war. Food vendors will be on site over the course of the weekend offering local produce and tasty treats. The Regatta will finish up on Sunday evening with a fancy dress parade followed by a show stopping firework display.

Feile an Phobail
When: 1st-11 August
Ireland’s biggest Community Arts Festival is back with its biggest and best line-up yet, with a series of massive outdoor concerts featuring many great acts. There are over seventy debates and discussion events involving leadership figures from the main political parties in Ireland. Fun and entertainment await all the family at the spectacular Féile Carnival Parade, Party in the Park and Teddy Bear’s Picnic.

Donegal Dragons Regatta
When: 10th August
Back for its 3rd year, the Donegal Dragons Regatta and is looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Donegal Town and the spectacular Donegal Bay. The races themselves take place over 200m with the finish line at Donegal Town Pier providing a great spectacular attraction showcasing some of the most beautiful boats on Donegal Bay. Family friendly activities are also planned around the regatta and it is set to be a wonderful day for the whole family.

The Glendalough Country Market is the 2nd Sunday of the month and encourages local and non-local producers of plants, vegetable and crafts. It is set to be a wonderful day for all where you can find some hidden gems from antique treasures to a wider array of books. Get down there early to make sure you get the best deals.

Puck Fair
When: 10th - 12th August
One of the country’s most oldest and celebrated festivals returns for it’s annual event in the street of Killorgin this August 10th to 12th. The 3 day event which sees a wild goat being crowned King Puck will have 12 hours of free family street entertainment daily. A fun few days for all!

Feakle International Traditional Music Festival
When: 7th-12th August
The Feakle International Traditional Music Festival is a five-day festival celebrating traditional music, song, dance and theatre with a huge range of workshops, lectures and concerts set for the festival. Besides providing a platform for local musicians to showcase their talents, the festival is known for bringing together musicians from other traditional backgrounds to share their musical experiences.

McCarthys Circus Bar Travelling Exhibition
When: 10th - 11th August
Taking place in the Community Centre Cappamore, come visit a Circus exhibition with an amazing archive comprising of more than 400 unique circus posters and in excess of 200 photographs, many of them extremely rare. The event is open both days between 11am to 8pm and it’s something not to be missed.

Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival
When: 10th-14th August
The Tubbercurry Old Fair Day Festival is back and is in its 34th year. Opening on Saturday 10th August, this 5-day festival is the perfect event for the whole family to enjoy. The festival hosts a teddy bear picnic on the Saturday and a family fun day on the sunday. The fair has so much to offer from artisan food and bread displays, live demonstrations from glass blowing, pottery, spinning and much more.

Carlingford Oyster Festival

The Carlingford Oyster Festival offers a four day fun-filled festival for the whole family and is packed with traditional children’s activities including Magic Show, Face Painting, the ever popular Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Free Kayaking in the Harbour, Children’s Funfair & Bouncing Castles and much, much more.  For the adults they can taste some wonderful seafood and take in the breathtaking views on the lough.

Slow Sessions
When: 9th - 10th August
Facilitated by Brendan McCreanor and Róisín Ward Morrow the slow session returns for another event for instrument players of all levels. Throughout the 2 hours there will be well known session tunes that can be played by all levels while catering particularly to beginners. Everyone is welcome including singers and spectators.. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Kilkenny Arts Festival

Running for the past 46 years, the Kilkenny Arts Festival is back and has gathered some of the world’s finest performers, musicians, writers and artists. Run over 11 days Kilkenny’s historic churches, castles, courtyards and gardens open their doors and offer a magical setting for the artists to showcase their work and perform. With many free events it is set to be a wonderful festival for all ages.

Purteen Harbour Festival
When: 10th August
The Purteen Harbour Fisherman's group are delighted to announce that this year's festival will take place on August 10th. The day will begin with a mass at  11:30 in honour of the 40th anniversary of the Lios Carra disaster and for recently deceased harbour users. Throughout the day there will be something for everyone with food, drink and an RNLI visit. Also visiting this year are the BIM ARC, which delivers an imaginative and engaging insight into Aquaculture. It’s a day not to be missed.

The final day of the Birr Vintage Week & Arts Festival is taking place rounding up an 8 day event full of fun. This year Birr vintage week will be the first in Ireland to bring window wonderland to life. Come see neighbours as they transform their streets into a magical light infused piece of art.

Crinkill Soapbox Derby and family fun day
When: 10th August
The Soapbox Derby and family fun day is back for 2019 and is set to be bigger and better than last year. With over 40 carts competing in the event, there is a fantastic prize for the winner of €850. It is no surprise the excitement is building for this wonderful event. The family fun day will commence after the derby at 2pm with numerous activities and amusements suitable for all ages. With music and entertainment commencing immediately after the race an evening of craic and enjoyment on the street is guaranteed.

Taste of Cavan
When: 9th - 10th August
The food event of the summer returns for another year with over 130 stalls full of artisan food and drinks as well as family entertainment for all. New to this year's event will be a fashion show and a wellness village where there will be over 20 exhibitors offering information on nutrition, good mental health and yoga for kids. The food event of the summer, not to be missed.

16. Derry

In celebration of Derry’s most popular night club venues InFlux turing 3, their will be a double header lineup this Saturday full of House and  Techno music with up and coming Glaswegian producer Big Miz and Scottish DJ and visual artist Eclair Fifi. Doors open at 10pm with last admission 11.15pm. This event is strictly over 18s and a night to be remembered, or not.

Living History at Tully Castle
When: 10th August
The Historic Environment Division and Department for Communities in association with Love Heritage NI are organising a free historical family event at Tully Castle. Watch the mid-seventeenth century come to life with castle defenders displaying their weapons and demonstrating their sword, pike and shots techniques. Perhaps we might even recruit some new defenders.
