Glen Bailey champions Energia’s Variable Rate for businesses and the company’s Lighting upgrade programme, promising businesses up to 70% savings on lighting costs with zero upfront investment.
Energia has appointed Glen Bailey as its new Head of Commercial & Energy Services.
Glen has been with Energia for ten years, across various customer and digital transformation roles. Prior to joining Energia, he worked in the telecoms and agri-food sectors.
In his new role, Glen will be responsible for the strategic, organisational, performance, and operational leadership of the Customer Solutions commercial sales and energy services propositions within ROI under the Energia brand.
“I’m very fortunate to work with a large team of talented energy professionals with significant experience in delivering value and excellent service to our customers,” Glen explained.
“Energy is a significant cost for businesses of all sizes. We are focused on not only providing competitive value but also partnering with our customers to support their sustainability activities,” Glen added.
Customer-Centric Approach
“We offer green renewable energy solutions and we’re keenly aware of our customers’ evolving ESG requirements. A customer centric approach has always been fundamental to our business, and that means consistently delivering excellent service levels, leading the market in terms of product innovation, and offering the latest technology to monitor usage and overall flexibility.”
Energia Group has pledged to reduce by 50% the carbon intensity of its electricity generation by 2030. In the same period, it aims to increase onshore wind and solar generation by a factor of three, as well as progressing other renewable energy opportunities in areas such as offshore wind, green hydrogen production and battery storage solutions.
Modernising Business Lighting
Glen noted that many Irish businesses are still relying on out-of-date fluorescent lighting, the sale of which has been banned by the EU since 2023. Energia’s Lighting Solutions programme replaces all fittings with the latest in LED lighting, there is no upfront cost, and Energia manages the process from start to finish.
Businesses can save up to 70% on the cost of their lighting bill with Energia Lighting Solutions.
Recent Energia lighting upgrades include a redevelopment of the pitch lighting at Energia Park and the lighting in the car park of the Beacon South Quarter. “We’ve also successfully delivered projects for schools, leisure facilities, sports clubs, retailers, and manufacturing plants,” Glen added.
“Another frequently occurring inefficiency is incorrect time schedules running plant and equipment when the process is not required, or the building is unoccupied,” Glen explained.
“Our Energy Efficiency upgrade schemes can help businesses ensure their operations are maximising their usage and reducing bills where possible. Our customers have also upgraded heating systems, air handling systems and building management systems.”
Variable Rate Benefits
Energia’s new Head of Commercial & Energy Services is encouraging businesses to consider the utility’s Variable Rate product.
According to Glen: “The Variable Rate is based on the wholesale market. Customers can save when energy costs fall, and they may have the option to switch to a fixed Energia rate during their contract.
“We already have 15,000 customers saving on the Energia Variable Rate. With one of the lowest standing charges in the market, it’s the smartest and most flexible way to manage energy costs.”
Gary Ryan, Managing Director, Energia Group Customer Solutions, commented: “Glen has a deep understanding of evolving customer needs as we support them in the energy transition. Energia is committed to providing the best possible value and service for our commercial customers, and we are supporting them in their ambitions to be more energy efficient through a range of energy efficiency measures as well as renewable energy tariffs.”
