Partnership with Energia forms part of a broader suite of Chadwicks sustainable initiatives
Energia, Ireland’s leading business energy company has announced that it will supply green power to Chadwicks Group across the company’s 50 locations in Ireland. Under the agreement, Energia will provide Chadwicks Group with an expected 16.6 GWh of green energy annually.

The Group has also removed all fluorescent and halogen lighting from its locations, replacing them with LED lighting which has resulted in a reduction of energy usage by approximately 30%.

The agreement with Energia forms part of Chadwicks Group’s broader commitment to sustainability. The Group has already replaced 100 of its forklift trucks with new energy efficient vehicles and other initiatives include a reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfill by reusing waste wherever possible and an increase in the recycling that takes place in each branch.

The Group is increasing environmental awareness among its colleagues and works with suppliers to drive sustainability in its sourcing and supply activities. As part of this overall commitment, Chadwicks has also undertaken a digital transformation programme which has seen 80% of its customers now using e-invoicing considerably reducing the use of paper in the business.

Deirdre Hurley, Key Account Manager, Energia commented; “We are delighted to partner with Chadwicks Group, Ireland’s leading building merchanting company. With a clear and determined focus on sustainability across its business, Chadwicks commitment to green energy is in line with our efforts to serve communities across Ireland. Our partnership is a signal of future intent and we look forward to working with the Group as it continues to grow both its business and commitment to customers.”

Commenting on the partnership, John McGowan, head of business support for Chadwicks Group said; “As a business we are committed to sustainability and working with our colleagues, customers and suppliers to help reduce our carbon footprint. This is an ongoing journey for our business and partnering with a green energy supplier who can help us reach our sustainability goals is hugely important. Today’s announcement marks another milestone in our sustainability story, and we look forward to working with Energia.”
