At the DSPCA we feel it’s important to educate from preschool and beyond that cruelty towards any animal is not acceptable and that animals should be treated with kindness and respect.

Please note we cannot take less than 10 students without special arrangement or more than 30 students per tour and there must be appropriate numbers of adults to supervise.

Our Education service is free but we do always appreciate donations to help us to continue our work caring for sick, injured and cruelly treated animals.

Explore the biodiversity of marine flora and fauna at Balbriggan Beach with Mona McCrea, Marine Biologist and Environmental Scientist with SEASHOREKIDS. Join other members of your community to discover the plants and animals at your local shore. Participants will learn about Marine Litter and the importance of a clean beach, Climate Change & Dune Restoration.
You will be digging in the sand, searching on and under rocks and seaweed, and in rock pools. All with the aid of a scavenger hunt, bucket and net.
This workshop takes approximately 1.5 hours and is suitable for all ages from 5 years.

Baltinglass classic car show and road run makes a comeback after two year break due to COVID-19.
This was an annual event up to 2019 and was growing in popularity each year and attracted entrants from all over Ireland as wall as a few from England and Wales.
Over the years the event has raised tens of thousands of euro for local deserving causes. Proceeds from this year’s run will go to the West Wicklow Daycare Service and Scoil Naomh Iosaf, Baltinglass.
The organisers, West Wicklow Classic and Vintage Vehicle Club invite all classic vehicle owners to participate.
The event is on Sunday August 7th with cars assembling in Baltinglass for static display from 11AM and the road Run gets under way at 2 PM sharp.
There will be prizes for vehicles in various categories with a special extra feature for classic Fiats. Meal , raffle and prize giving take place after the road run in Germaine’s of Baltinglass.
This is an excellent day out for all the family and helps support two excellent causes.

Dublin City Council is delighted to announce that College Green and Dame Street will host a family friendly Summer Sunday Event from 12 noon to 4pm on Sunday August 7th.
On that day the area will be traffic-free, offering a unique opportunity for all ages to enjoy on-street entertainment and free family-fun. The event will have a colourful carnival theme with performers, stilt walkers and jugglers all providing an unmissable afternoon out for a Summer Sunday in the city.
There will be lots to see and do like a ride on an antique carousel, circus skills workshops, face painting and lots of outdoor furniture to relax and take in the sights or eat a picnic with sounds and aromas of summer floating through the air.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Caroline Conroy said “Summer Sunday will be an unmissable occasion to see and appreciate College Green and Dame Street in a whole new light with no traffic. The carnival theme will be full of joy and colour and is sure to bring lots of family fun and entertainment for everyone to enjoy.”

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is THE premier cultural event in Ireland and the world’s largest annual celebration of Traditional Irish music, language, song and dance.
Hundreds of thousands will gather in Mullingar from 31 July to 08 August for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Mullingar 2022, which has been named “The Homecoming”, celebrating the Fleadhs return to Mullingar after the founding of Comhaltas there in 1951!!

A new Playful Pirate Culture Trail has launched in Cork City. Throughout July & August, the city’s vibrant museums, galleries and visitor attractions will encourage families to explore culture, heritage and the city’s green spaces in a playful way.
Get kids to say ‘aye-aye’ to cultural adventures using a new Playful Pirate Culture Trail treasure map of Cork City. The map leads to treasure at Museums, galleries, green spaces and historic sites long with other challenges. It also lists 20 child friendly activities to do in the city from spotting pirate ships and cannons, to digging for hidden loot and searching for golden angels!
In addition to a treasure hunt at each venue on your voyage, there will be pirate photo opportunities, fun facts, lots of pirate colouring, and suggested activities to try where X marks the spot. Make sure you also look out for the play trail mascot Bláithin, a little green environmentalist pirate lizard, who will play hide and seek at each venue.

Seisiun is a magical performance of Irish traditional music, song and dance with performances by musicians, singers and dancers from Connemara. Seisiun takes place in the Teach Ceoil in Tully, Renvyle H91 V638 every Tues in July and August. The first part of the show is a performance and the second half is less formal and the audience are encouraged to participate.
