The boxes are packed, the deep clean is complete, but before you exchange keys there are a few last checklist items to tick off so that your electricity, gas or dual fuel accounts are ready for your move, along with the rest of your moving house utilities.

When you’re moving into a property that is already registered with us, you’ll need the following information:
Your MPRN and/or GPRN
Your address and move in date
Opening meter read

If you are an existing Energia customer moving house or need to close your account simply complete the form below. We'll be in touch if we need any further information to complete your move.
Help & support with moving
You do not need to contact us in advance. Just get in touch on the day you move out, or shortly afterwards, so we can close your account and issue your final bill.
What we will need from you
- Your MPRN for electricity and your GPRN for gas
- Your Energia account number
- A final meter reading for the property you are leaving
- If you have a day and night meter, we will need both readings rather than a total
- Your forwarding address so we can send your final bill
Why this is important
- Without a final meter reading, you may continue to be charged for energy used at your old address
- Providing your details helps us close your account smoothly and make sure your final bill is accurate
Yes. You can register a new account for your additional address by calling us on 0818 405 405 and selecting option 1. We will guide you through the registration process and make sure everything is set up correctly.
What you will need when you call
- Your MPRN for electricity and your GPRN for gas
- Your meter readings for the new address
- If you have a smart meter, we will need day, night and peak readings rather than a total
- If you have a day and night meter, we will need both readings rather than a total
- Your BIC and IBAN if you wish to set up a direct debit, as we cannot copy bank details from an existing account
Helpful tips
- You can usually get your MPRN and GPRN from your estate agent or landlord
- You can also contact ESB Networks for your MPRN and Gas Networks Ireland for your GPRN
When you call, we will also talk you through our current electricity and gas offers and set up your registration.
Please call us as soon as you move in and give us your meter reading. This helps us set up your account correctly and ensures everything starts smoothly.
Why your meter reading matters
- It confirms the property is now occupied
- It prevents your supply from being disconnected
- It ensures you are only billed for the energy you have used
No, you do not need to give us notice in advance. Just contact us on the day you move out, or shortly afterwards, so we can close your account and issue your final bill.
Some smart meters can send readings automatically. However, it is still important to give us an opening reading when you move in and a closing reading when you move out.

- Signal strength can affect whether your meter sends readings automatically
- Your tariff type may require manual readings
- Giving us your readings helps avoid billing issues
- It ensures you are only billed for the energy you have used
Please call our Home Movements team on 0818 405 405 and choose option 1. Have your MPRN or GPRN ready when you call. We will register your details and arrange reconnection with ESB Networks or Gas Networks Ireland.
What to expect
- We will confirm your details and begin the reconnection process
- We will let you know if any fees apply
- There may be charges for a re‑energisation, and these fees are set and charged directly by ESB Networks or Gas Networks Ireland
