UL Bohs and Clontarf are crowned Energia AIL Champions

The Aviva Stadium was awash with club colours, as supporters from all four clubs came out to cheer on their teams.

The 2024/25 Energia AIL season came to an exciting conclusion, with a Double Header Final featuring both the Women’s and Men’s top Division. The Aviva Stadium was awash with club colours, as supporters from all four clubs came out to cheer on their teams.

The day got off to a to an exciting start with Railway Union facing UL Bohemians for the second year in a row. Railway Union secured their place in their third successive final, after dominating the table and remaining undefeated winning 19 matches this season. However, the final whistle brought heartbreak for Railway, with Eilis Cahill of UL Bohs getting over the line in the 82nd minute to retain their title for another year. The match was testament to the standard and skill of the league, with the standard of rugby constantly improving and evolving.

The second game of the day saw Clontarf regain the title, narrowly edging last season’s champions Cork Constitution by a singular point. It was 14-12 to Cork Con at half time, but a Clontarf try scored by Connor Fahy in the 74th made for a ‘Tarf victory. It was a thrilling contest with two brilliant sides- fans were kept on the edge of their seat for the 80 minutes.

Both matches were a hard-fought battle with all four teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. While it wasn’t Railway & Con’s day, we’re looking forward to seeing them return in September for the 2025/26 Energia AIL Season.
