Darkness Into Light 2022 will take place at sunrise on the morning of Saturday May 7th.
 
This year, we are delighted that our in-person events can resume safely across Ireland and the world in most of our Darkness Into Light venues. You can check out the venues where organised events will be taking place by clicking ''register'' on the homepage. We also know that many people enjoyed taking part in Darkness Into Light in their own way last year when we could not join together in the usual way.

So, this year, we know that Darkness Into Light will take on many forms and people will come together in different and creative ways to share a sunrise moment and stand in solidarity with people impacted by suicide and self-harm.

The match is being arranged as a fundraiser for the Mallow Day Care Centre building fund.

Treasure Island is Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of pirates and buried treasure from Bristol to a faraway Island. “Pieces of Eight! Pieces of eight!” yells Captain Flint, the parrot. This book is also where the phrase “You ho ho and a bottle of Rum!” comes from. Meet Jim Hawkins, a young lad who gets himself caught up in an adventure across the seas. Follow the story as Jim meets Captain Smollett, Billy Bones and the most famous pirate of them all Long John Silver. Barking Dog’s two talented actors (with the help of a some puppets and children from the audience) present this exciting tale.

Owned and ran by the Kennedy Family. The Museum was set up in the year 2000 as it was identified that Ireland was losing its heritage and true identity. The Kennedys recognised the importance of preserving the past for the future.
 
The museum consists of many different attractions from old household & farm items to vehicles and a full street scene which has been fully reconstructed to really give you a feel for 1930s Ireland.

The Bealtaine Festival, Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age, will be celebrated throughout the month of May in Donegal. Age & Opportunity’s Bealtaine 2022 festival, will celebrate In(ter)dependence as its theme and a welcome return to live in-person events.
 
The festival, now in its 25th Year, will be officially launched on Sunday 1st May at 5pm by Councillor Jack Murray, Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council at the Regional Cultural Centre (RCC). And following the official launch the Donegal Bealtaine festival will be kicked off at 6pm with a special free concert featuring Irish country music legend Brendan Quinn & Band and supported by Americana songsmith Dean Maywood. The concert will be streamed live on www.regionalculturalcentre.com to mark the beginning of the month-long festivities.

This walk will be led by Dr. Allan Mee and ornithologist with many years experience surveying bird species in the MacGillycuddy Reeks.
 
Recently Allan has been conducting surveys for grouse and other species in this area as part of the ongoing Birds of the Kerry Biosphere project hosted by the Kerry Biosphere Reserve and funded by the Department of Housing, local government and Heritage, Kerry County Council and Creative Ireland.
