Bana Rua - Sea Shanti Session

Bana Rua are a 5 piece vocal harmony and folk group from Waterford City. Their style and influences range from Irish folk and traditional to contemporary barbershop and acapella, American old time and country to modern day classics.
Enjoy the Sea shanty, sung to accompany rhythmical labour aboard large merchant sailing vessels had roots in lore and legend.
The “maritime work song” enjoyed by sailors far and near The Imagine Festival will take the opportunity to raise a toast to our Suir Estuary, all who sailed and sang about her.

‘Sing out with Strings’ is the Irish Chamber Orchestra’s flagship community engagement programme has been running now for 14 years. The programme began in 2008 as a response to Limerick’s regeneration process. A team of musicians provide weekly sessions for all children attending partnering schools. Activities include singing and songwriting, violin, viola, cello and double bass, choir and orchestra as well as afterschool activities, holiday camps, public performances and concerts.
Sing out with Strings addresses issues of inclusion, equality and access and highlights the numerous benefits that a long term project of this nature can have on the children, staff, parents and the wider community.

Singing facilitator Kate Duignan of the ad hoc choir will lead a workshop where participants learn songs together from scratch; all songs learned by ear.

Conamara Sea Week is a celebration of the wonderful marine and cultural heritage of Connemara and this year’s festival has a particular focus on climate action and aims to engage young people to empower them to become agents of positive change. The Climate Action Seminar will bring a range of expert speakers who will address issues of climate change and biodiversity loss, its impact on our seas and bogs, and offer solutions and hope for a better future. Speakers include Sibeál O’Regan from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group, Margaret Flaherty from Connemara National Park and Dr Katie O’Dwyer, from the Atlantic Technological University, Galway.

Tour of Parliament Buildings

Parliament Buildings is one of the best known and most striking pieces of architecture in Northern Ireland. The architect Sir Arnold Thornely, who was knighted by King George V in recognition of his architectural work, designed the building with perfect symmetry and symbolism, such as the building being 365ft wide representing one foot for every day of the year; having six floors and six pillars at the entrance, one for each county in Northern Ireland.

The Spooky Science Workshop is sure to provide a jam-packed hour of activities with Geopark staff. Children will have the opportunity to participate in interactive hands-on fun, where they will make their own glow in the dark slime well as other spooky themed activities.

Longford's annual Dead of Night Festival returns this Halloween night from 6pm at Connolly Barracks in Longford Town! This free and frightful festival is sure to scare all ages with the spectacular Dead of Night Parade, the scream-worthy Spook Walk, and a bone-chilling Beacon bonfire-alternative. There are spooky storytelling sessions, as well as acrobats, magicians and fire dancers and chilling competitions for best costume and best decorated pumpkin. You can also scare everyone with your dancing as our DJ plays all the Halloween hits.
