About Energia

At Energia, we provide green electricity to over 250,000 homes and businesses across Ireland. Energia has been operating in Ireland since 1999, and since then we've been expanding our company and team to become a leading Irish energy provider.

Supplying green electricity

We work towards creating a sustainable future that we all can be proud of. We operate one of Ireland’s biggest wind farms and provide green electricity to all our customers.

At Energia, we provide 100% green electricity to over 250,000 homes and businesses across Ireland.
Energia has been operating in Ireland since 1999 for business customers, and due to its massive success, we launched into the domestic market in 2014. Since then we've been continually expanding our company and our team to become a leading Irish energy provider and infrastructure investor across Renewables, Flexible Generation and Customer Solutions.

Powering 18% of Ireland's Electricity

Energia supplies approximately 18% of the island of Ireland’s total electricity requirements and 23% of the island’s total wind power, meeting the energy needs of over 58,000 business customers and over 200,000 homes with competitive electricity and gas services.

Ireland’s Greenest Electricity Provider

Energia are proud to be Ireland's Greenest Electricity Provider through our extensive wind power, as we operate 40 wind farms in locations across the country. Innovation is a key focus for Energia, and to date we have invested over €1 billion in the energy market across the island of Ireland. At Energia we are the power behind all of Ireland’s streetlights as well as supplying maternity hospitals, Dublin Bus, an Garda Síochana, thousands of classrooms and businesses across Ireland. Through our strategic initiatives and our investments, we are decisively addressing the challenges of energy provision in a world that is grappling with climate change.

Award Winning Energy Provider

We’re proud to say that we have won many awards for our green credentials where, for the past 5 years, we have provided customers with electrical energy that is 100% renewable. This year we were crowned Winners of the Green Energy Provider Award at the Green Energy Awards 2019 & 2020.

Investing in a Sustainable Future

We’re now further expanding these interests by investing in offshore wind farms and solar projects which will add further to our renewable energy portfolio, creating even further sustainability throughout our business and onwards to our customer base.

Ireland's Greenest Electricity  Supplier

The Energia Renewables business owns and operates 277MW of wind assets and purchases electricity from 1,274MW of renewable generation capacity throughout Ireland. The Group also purchases electricity under long-term off-take Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) contracts with third party renewable generators and the Group’s owned renewable assets through its Customer Solutions businesses.

This is one of the highest volumes of green energy MW production on the island of Ireland for a supplier - supplying approximately 23% of Ireland’s total wind power.

We are proud to say that Energia was awarded the 2020 Winner of The Green Energy Provider Award, making us the coveted winner of this title for the 2nd year in a row! We're particularly proud to receive this award given the new projects commenced and announcements Energia Group have made within the last year - including our Positive Energy Investment and the numerous other new projects spanning Onshore and Offshore Wind, Smart Batteries, Hydrogen Energy and Solar to name a few.

Our expert teams across Renewables, Energy Services and Marketing have been working collaboritively to bring to life the Energia Group vision focused on modernising the utility landscape, which will help to largely mitigate carbon emissions on the island of Ireland.

Energia Get Ireland Growing

Get Inspired. Get Involved. Get Growing!

About Energia Get Ireland Growing
Last year we gave 85 communities a share of the whopping €75,000 Get Ireland Growing Fund. This year we're back once again to give community food growing projects the cash boost they need to Get Ireland Growing.

The Goal
The goal of the Energia Get Ireland Growing Fund is to boost food growing projects all around Ireland. From hundreds of applications, we select some amazing projects to help grow, increase in size and contribute to Ireland's environment.

The Fund
The fund is split across three categories – Sow, Grow and Harvest with awards ranging from €500 to €2,000. One amazing community will receive a grand total of €5,000 for their initiative. Together GIY and Energia will award the grants to at least 85 community food growing groups up and down the country. We can't wait to play our part in boosting community food growing in a meaningful way.
