The Breffni Men's Gardening & Social Club is a community group for men of all ages, from every ethnic, social, cultural and economic background. As part of the Breffni Family Resource Centre, they're commited to producing a varied, accessible programme for all their members to learn about gardening in a friendly environment, and to help them grow and make new friends.
The Club has a huge variety of gardening facilities: an allotment, poly tunnel, and Hope Orchard. They grow a wide variety of fruit, veg and flowers.
With a focus on promoting inclusivity amongst men of all ages, it encourages members from rural communities to join and socialises, and to help reduce the sense of social isolation they may feel. It helps to improve the physical and mental health of its members with work outdoors and, for older members, the work can help to improve their moto skills, mobility and flexibility.
Club members tend the gardens, but they're also enjoyed recreationally by visitors from pre-schools, youth groups, and local residents.
